Goolge Webmaster Tools Verify

1. First of all go to www.google.com and type in “webmaster tools

2. You will then have to sign in to your Google Account, if you have not yet created a Google account, create one and return to this tutorial after this step.

Once you have signed into your google Account yo will have the opinion to “add a site“. Type in the URL of your website as shown below and select “Add Site“: -

3. Once you have done this you will see the below confirmation message. Click “Verify Your Site“: -

4. You will now have the option to verify your website by adding a meta tag or adding a page to your web server. In this example i have added a line of HTML code to my web page. Simply select the “Add a meta tag” option, highlight the code shown, right click and select “Copy“.

5. After you gave copied this bit of HTML code go to your websites home page (index.html / php) and paste this line of code just under your title tag (<TITLE> </TITLE>) before the </HEAD> section of your web page.

6. Before Google can verify your website successfully you will have to upload this web page to your server. Learn How To Upload A Website Using FTP. After you have successfully upload this web page to your server, go to back to your Google Webmaster Account and click “Refresh” on your keyboard. A green tick should show for the website you have just added under the “Verified” column.

Congratulations, this means that Google has successfully verified your website.

How To Install Google Analytics

Need help Installing Google Analytics? .. follow this step by step guide

We have received quite a few requests from subscribers for a step by step guide on how to install Google Analytics so we thought we would put this together for all our subscriber and visitors, so here it is .. your guide to installing Google Analytics

1. Go to www.google.com and type in “google analytics”

Google will display the follow search results : -

2. Click on the “Sign Up Now” sub link under the main “Google Analytics” link.

3. If you do not have a google account click on “Sign Up Now” on the left hand side

4. Fill in all of your account information and click “I accept Create My Account

Upon entering your account information the below message will be presented to you. To verify you Google Analytics account check your email account that you have signed up with, you should receive an email from Google. 

5. If you have successfully received the email open it and click on the verification link, highlighted in red below : -

When you have clicked the verify link you will be presented with the following screen : -

6. Click the link as shown above to manage your account profile : -

7. On the following screen select the “Analytics” as shown below in red to enter your Google Analytics account: -

8. Click “Sign Up”

9. Enter the information as shown below, ensure that you enter the correct domain name (the one entered here is www.howtowebsite.co.uk and finally select “Continue”

10. Again enter some further information (contact information) and select “Continue”

11. Have a read through the User Agreement, tick the Yes i agree … selection box and select “Create New Account”

12. The following screen displays the code that has to be entered into EACH and EVERY web page of your website, this is a vitally important step and has to be undertaken to ensure all of your pages appear in your Google Analytics account.

Simply highlight all of the code  in the box provided, right click it and select “Copy”.

Note :I always choose Legacy Tracking Code (urchin.js), however its up to you which selection to make.

13. The next step will involve you manually pasting this bit of code into each page. Again its extremely important that you paste this code immediately before the </body> tag.

14. If you have not uploaded your website yet you will see the below symbol appear (highlighted in red below). This symbol appears when Google cannot detect the code.

15.Once you have uploaded all of your web pages to your server after some time, and do not be alarmed if this doesn’t happen straight away, you will notice that the “alert” symbol will change to a green tick. This means that your Google Analytics code has been successfully detected and is now ready to receive data and track visitors.

16. To view your website visitor tracking stats simply click on the “View Report” link.

And there you have it, if you can see the above screenshot you have successfully installed Google Analytics on your website.
