1. Firstly you need to register your own domain name (What is a Domain Name and Why Do I Need One?), for tips on how to do this click here.

Right click HERE and choose "Open In A New Window" to open 1-2-3 Reg's website (1-2-3 Reg are an excellent 5 star rated domain name provider..

2. You will now see the following page or something similar depending on how often they update their website. Simply enter your desired domain name into the box provided and click "Search": -

3.The next page will tell you whether your domain name is available. If you're desired Domain Name is available ensure the box is ticked (as shown below) next to the domain name, furthermore ensure all other domain names are unticked, next choose a registration duration by expanding the drop down box by clicking the down arrow and select: -

4. Next step is to click the "add to basket button", you will notice that your domain name will now feature in "your basket" above the button, after this click 'ok let's continue' : -

5. You now have the option to add "WHOIS Privacy". When you register a domain name details such as your name, address and email address can be seen in a public database. WHOIS hides this information for .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .name, .cc, .tv and .me domains, Use the checkboxes to add WHOIS privacy and choose how long you want to buy the service for, if you do not wish to purchase this simply select "ok lets continue".

6. You will now see the following page. This page gives you the option to add "extras" to your account, however I would strongly advise that you do not purchase your web hosting with 1-2-3 Reg as I believe there are better web hosts out there that provide allot better functionality which are better value for money (you can view my recommended webhosting providers here). So simply ignore the "extras" and select "ok let's continue" : -

7. The next page as shown below will show "Your Basket". Simply select the "ok let's continue" button once again : -

8. Yow now have the option to "Sign" or "Create An Account" if you are a first time user fill in the form provided to "Create An Account" : -

9. After you have populated the above form, simply select "continue to payment" at the bottom (as shown below). After this a pop up box will appear, proceed enter the username and password into the spaces provided and select "OK".

10. Verify all of the information is correct and click "continue to payment" once again : -

11. The next screen will display payment details, you have a choce of methods of payment : - PayPal or Pay By Card, select an option and proceed to fill out the forms with your card or PayPal details, then click "Pay Now" at the bottom of the screen : -

12. Congratulations, you have successfully purchased your own domain name. Shortly after you will receive a confirmation email from 1-2-3 Reg.
